Louisiana Avenue is the band that provides carnival associations in a way that few other bands can. It has almost been a popular demand that the band returns to Moldejazz after their first visit with us in 2019!

Louisiana Avenue is known for it's live performances in Sweden, and after the concerts in Kikkans Hall in 2019, the rumor has spread in Norway as well. In this case, the rumors are true, this is an experience you will remember for a long time!

When they celebrated the release of their debut album «2107 Delachaise» (2019) with a concert at Fasching in Stockholm, the renowned jazz magazine Lira also named them Sweden's best live band.

A tribute to the everyday person
- A concert performance by and with Små Grå

"People have such good timing"

What does the little fact mean, what she did with her hair there? What sounds do we make as listeners? And when does that sound go from being appreciative to dismissive, and exactly what shade do we choose?

This is the inspiration behind Små Grås' concert performance "Melancholy Disco". That is, human language, timing, humor, seriousness, and what we get hung up on and think is important. And significant. Little Gray makes music of all this in their brand-new performance.

Composed music and improvised stretches slide into each other in this thought-provoking and humorous performance. The theme alternates between the everyday, like a creamy or polite small talk with another mother in kindergarten, and the big questions in life.

Nina Mortvedt, (Band of Gold) Mai Elise Solberg, (ONTZ, MEogI, Hanne Hukkelberg) and Benedikte Kruse (Pitsj, Plutselig Barneteater).

Små Grå graduated from the master's program in performing jazz and improvisation at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2021. Sidsel Endresen and Snelle Hall have followed the work with "Melancholy Disco" and Jo Strømgren has been the outer eye.

Some concerts and artists have a distinctive grip on their audience, and make the roof lift, regardless of the original ceiling height.

He has played double bass with historical jazz names such as Chick Corea, Michael Brecker and Bobby McFerrin, appeared in roots, blues, rock and americana, and was in 2021 in the ECM studio as bassist in the Tord Gustavsen Trio.

Both as a vocalist and bassist, he has a raw and clear nerve. Raknes also has a striking ability to write songs that stick immediately and that feel familiar and beloved from the first listen, but also make goosebumps-inducing cover versions of the songs of heroes like Bob Dylan, Depeche Mode, and Bruce Springsteen.

We look forward to a reunion with the audience favorite Steinar Raknes and his Stillhouse band in the unique tent «Kikkans Hall» on Rådhusplassen.

Ytre Suløen is well on its way to exploring the diversity of Thomas "Fats" Waller's music

Thomas "Fats" Waller (1904-1943) was one of the most brilliant and popular jazz pianists of the 1920s and 30s from Harlem New York. He became known as a pianist, composer and not least as an entertainer. He was a mood-spreader without equal (has been called "a brilliant clown"), and appeared in several films, including in "Stormy Weather" with Lena Horne, he was also the first to play jazz on the organ!

He has left behind several melodies that have become part of the standard jazz repertoire. He made music for several Broadway shows in the 1920s, the most famous songs from here are "Honeysuckle Rose", "Ain't Misbehavin", and "Black and Blue", as well as brilliant instrumental songs such as "Handful of Keys", «Wild Cat Blues» and «Jitterbug Waltz». In the 1930s he became a record artist for Victor Records, with "Fats Waller and His Rhythm", where his ingenious vocal elements also received full focus (titles such as "All that Meat", "No Potatoes" and "Your Feet's too Big" speak for themselves...)
