Ytre Suløens Jass-ensemble
Med/uten mat
Ytre Suløen is well on its way to exploring the diversity of Thomas "Fats" Waller's music
With Tricia Boutté at the forefront as vocalist and entertainer, we can promise both a fine and festive musical portrait of a legend in the genres Dixieland, jazz, swing, stride and ragtime!
Thomas "Fats" Waller (1904-1943) was one of the most brilliant and popular jazz pianists of the 1920s and 30s from Harlem New York. He became known as a pianist, composer and not least as an entertainer. He was a mood-spreader without equal (has been called "a brilliant clown"), and appeared in several films, including in "Stormy Weather" with Lena Horne, he was also the first to play jazz on the organ!
He has left behind several melodies that have become part of the standard jazz repertoire. He made music for several Broadway shows in the 1920s, the most famous songs from here are "Honeysuckle Rose", "Ain't Misbehavin", and "Black and Blue", as well as brilliant instrumental songs such as "Handful of Keys", «Wild Cat Blues» and «Jitterbug Waltz». In the 1930s he became a record artist for Victor Records, with "Fats Waller and His Rhythm", where his ingenious vocal elements also received full focus (titles such as "All that Meat", "No Potatoes" and "Your Feet's too Big" speak for themselves...)
